Today I found in my stock an steam regulator with spherical cone - which wasn`t tight I knew. But the work wasn`t too much for grinding up (?) the cone with tooth paste until it was completely tight. When the weather on sunday will be good, I will drive with "Mindon" to a ship model club in Blackforest.

Could you please explain what was wrong with the 1:1 gearing ratio and how you changed it?

The gearing ratio of 1 : 1 was not wrong, but even not ideal. The load for the engine was rather high and even the steam consumption. This results in a rather low possibility to navigate the engine in a sensitive manner from very slow to full speed. The negative effects were more obvious at the "Presto" with her 120 mm diameter wheels. The "Mindon" with her small 90 mm wheels seems better,  but even not really good. The gearing ratio at "Mindon" now is 1,5 : 1, obviously this is the better alternative for more exact engine navigation.

I see what the problem was and I agree it is important to be able to run the engine slowly.
But of course,  the slow running ability is partly given by design but even more by the internal friction and possible internal steam losses.
