Yes I think there was a model of the Waverley about that size in the museum, in preservation colours post 1975 I think.
I will call in past the museum this week, its on my way to work, and see if anyone is about. If so, I will ask if anyone will be in on Saturday, if you like.

        Nice collection of small scale Clyde steamers.  I think I spotted the MV Ashton.  There were two of these small boats. What was the name of the other one.

The two small motor vessels were ASHTON and LEVEN which ran between Largs and Millport. I believe both are still in existence south of the border.

Love the photo of your WAVERLEY off Dunoon pier.
I used to spend my lunch break from Dunoon Grammar school, on the upper prom deck of that pier during the sailing season.
An ABC car ferry would leave for Gourock at 1.10 then QUEEN MARY would come in at 1.20 and JEANIE DEANS at 1.25 both bound for Rothesay, with a MAID coming up firth for Craigendoran, oh happy days, then I had to go back up the hill for lessons!
Got friendly with the staff on the turnstiles and didn't have to pay the two penny pier dues!    Sandy

Like the photo, looks like your Waverley is backing into berth 1. I remember the Dunoon pier model that the steamer club had - only thing is, it reminds me of work & I'm back tomorrow after leave! Although, Sandy has given me the idea of charging pier dues again, I'm sure no-one would mind, its only for my pocket money!

Help!  I'm suffering from nostalgia overload.  Gone are the days when a whole week of the school hols could be spent trying to sail on every available steamer.  Thanks for the memory joggers Sandy.

Hey, this is all heavy nostalgic stuff, so here goes wwith my twopennorth (or twa bawbies) worth. In the days of my youth in 1955 I was fourteen and my mate Jim and I had saved most of our years paper round money for "A trip of a lifetime" during the six week school holidays.. We got a return rail ticket from Darlington to Glasgow armed with a rucksacks, a small tent etc with the intention of riding as many Clyde steamers as we could until our money ran out. We bought "runabout" tickets which I think lasted two weeks and allowed travel on any steamer. Starting from Dunoon with a fistfull of timetables we sailed ocross and up and down the Clyde until evening when we would go ashore, find the nearest bit of grass or sand and pitch our tent. Cook sausages and beans (every day) and jam sandwhiches and into ouir sleeping bags. Up at crack of dawn, onto the first steamer and off we would go again. Grab a bag of chips for lunch, camp where we stopped at night and so on, for three and a half weeks until our money ran out!
Most of the pursers got to know us so well, they would great us with the latest timetable alterations or gossip about the ships!  The ships cafe staff would oftain slip us a crafty bacon sandwhich or cake when we went below for our statutory "IRON BREW".  That was  one holiday to last for a lifetime.
Sadly, todays nanny state wont allow children the freedom to roam as I used to. regards, Walter.

As you say Sandy tight  and can't even spell IRN BRU.  I bet he didn't sail on any of McBraynes as his runabout wasn't valid on them and he'd have to pay, jus as I did    Just as well he didn't go to the western isles where he would certainly have his pocket emptied    " The earth belongeth to the lord, and all that it contains - Except the western isles which belongeth to Mc Braynes"

I think his name begins with B and finishes with B and theres an Oh in it somewhere!. Your right, we could only travel on British Rail ships with our runabout tickets, but it did allow us to have unlimited ship and train access. regards, walter PS. we did try to play the innocent and get on a couple of Mcbrayne ships but those Scots are real spoilsports and wanted money.

\\No Alistair,  they are ones on display at Cowal Heritage Museum in Dunoon's Castle Gardens, opposite the pier.
Formerly the Council Chambers but we knew it as the Tulloch Library.

I might be able to confirm your photograph.  It is the Jupiter built and owned by Lee McLean of The Model Steamer Club of Glasgow  The pier is the clubs Craigendoran pier with the original 'thin' model pier building.  It was only the front that was modelled so that the whole pier could be placed against a concrete pond edge.  The club did a number of shows in the early years at Dunoon, sadly the pond fell into disrepair, drained, and we haven't been back for nearly 20 years. It also looks like one of the Duchess turbines at the top of the picture at the other pier.
