New Starter from Buckinghamshire England
« on: March 12, 2020, 08:38:32 PM »
I was kindly given the link by Derek Warner after asking a question on Paddle Boats on another model boat forum.
My interest in model boat building came after putting together the Aeronaut Queen kit. It did not sink and it goes quite well. Having a background in Garden Rail pushes my interest in steam. The Murray River Paddle Boats are attractive, specifically the PS Adelaide.
Ambition always exceeds ability so I am starting on a learning curve which I trust will be extremely rewarding. Your forum is fantastic and the expertise just oozes!

Welcome Ken......good you made it across  :beer.......if you go to the search box to the lower left of page, type in PS Adelaide & you will find 200+ postings.....I will paste the other images from MBM......

If you manage get from UK to OZ in a note after you have visited Float a Boat........Adrian [Principal] will not mind me posting snippits of his plans here

Whilst you did not ask, the Australian Company....."Float a Boat" produces a 2 plan building set of plans in 1:24 scale of PS Adelaide.....

The plans were drawn [as measured on the original vessel - including every timber size & section] by the Principal and are in an excellent layout format suitable for the building of the model

As you note, Adelaide has a twin cylinder horizontal engine direct drive to the paddle shaft, so from this steam models could use gear or a chain reduction dependent on the model steam engine chosen

Thank you both.  A bit touch and go on the trip to Melbourne. Bumped off my original flight and ended up on a better airline. Now facing a 2 week self isolation so my visits to Floataboat and  Miniature Steam Models will be in the latter part of my holiday. Will report back after visit. Provided the dreaded virus doesn’t stop me!
