Hello from a Complete beginner
« on: April 30, 2020, 03:28:57 AM »

Hi all,

I chose 'CadetKit' as my user name because my name is Kit (Christopher) and I am training as an Officer Cadet at the William Booth College for Officer Training for The Salvation Army,  based in South London.

I have decided to dive in the deep end and fulfill an ambition of my late father's, to build an RC model of the famous PS Waverley. I travelled from Clacton to London on the Waverley and fell in love with it.

Other than a lot of build tips and technique advice I need to know some very basic things about motor units, gearing, and where is best to look for build materials and any specialist accessories I'm going to need.

My first toe in the water has been to order a pre formed hull and scaled plans from Mountfleet models, as I'm not brave enough to start completely from scratch.  The hull and plans should be with me in about 4 weeks, so if you see this post please say hi, and if you have any tips before I start out, then please give me a shout. Where to start first would be really helpful!

I look forward to getting to know you all,

Many thanks,

Kit

Welcome Kit.

Any hassles or questions you have with your build just ask PS Waverley is a popular build.

Thanks Damien,
I shall need a lot of help
I've been looking on line for some videos or books online to show some helpful building techniques.

One thing that I was interested in was your reply to another member on downloadable plans for the Waverly paddle wheels.
I tried to get onto that area but it says I don't have access.

Looking forward to chatting with you

Kit

The plans are available to anyone that has posted more then 3 messages.... It's simply a way of stopping the people who are only here to grab everything they can without contributing anything!

Access is still limited, but you will be able to download 3 files per day, so if you run out of downloads, just leave it for 24hrs and then go back.

Hope that helps?

Eddy
