Hello all.
I am looking for Plans/Plans availability for Blockade runners/Paddle steamers before or during the American Civil war use as blockade runners by the Confederate States/Navy. It is my desire to build a 1/48 scale static model of this type of ship and feel the the side paddle wheelers would be a good subject.
Any help in this subject would be appriciated, I have also started perusing the Forum for builds by other members who might be building similar ships.

You will find the exact plans of the blockade runner "Hope" of 1864 by Taubman Plans in US.
I´ve built the "Hope" as steam driven model in 1 : 48.
You will find some pictures of my model and text in "construction" - I think it is in 2008 or 2007.

I will check your photos out...I have decided that I want to build the Banshee II. The Hope was not a Clyde built ship, It was built in Liverpool by Quiggin and Company in 1864 as was the Banshee I

I've checked my list of available paddle steamer plans from the Clyde and the best I can find is Iona (ii) of 1864 which was bought to be a blockade runner but never made it sinking off Lundy island on her delivery voyage. There is a general arrangement plus lines drawings for this vessel I think at Glasgow university archives.
Unfortunately while many plans from the 1870's onwards have survived the 1860's is a bit too early.

Yes, Thanks. I see that she was launched in 1863, so she one of the early type of blockade runners! Is there any way you can transfer an electronic file of her? or I will pay for any copying and postage you incur. (where is Meikle Wartle) That is a quaint town you live in! I Googled it.
Yes you are right about plans for the 1860 being difficult to find! I thought that the NMM would have them abound, but no! I have also been in communication with the Liverpool Museum but it appears that the only set of plans they have is for the Banshee II are taken of a half model so one can only surmise how it was constructed
