Its to late now to save her
What will happen with the engine?
Andy
Looks like it will be scrapped as well
sorry PD's....I am not trying to :hijack ....but there is a world wide thirst for scrap steel.....I see it every day.....huge B double trailers taking crushed car bodies to the Port of Kembla [near Wollongong] to be exported to Korea
Crazy :ranting....all to come back as Hyundai Getz motor vehicles or those Hyundai Jaws of Death cutting machines :crash as shown the the picture below........
In reality I can understand the LC's hull being recycled if no real benefactor can be found....but to cut up a twin cylinder horizontal steam engine like this is :nono Derek :41
They are very close to the engine now you can see it in this pic.
Its a triple expansion engine.
Saw her a few days ago. The engine had just been broken up and taken out. The crankshaft was burned through just inboard of the padleboxes.
Final photos here including views of the triple expansion engine being dismantled.

A sad sight to see another paddler go, but the last few images show how badly corroded she was below the waterline.... Having said that, I've seen vessels in a lot worse condition get restored!
