I received the plans for my new build Maid of the Loch looking at the views I don't see a keel showing is the keel an internal keel flush with the hull .
Is there a keel on paddle wheel boats.

Hi Rick

Although early paddle vessels frequently had bar keels, in more modern vessels a centre girder and plate keel became more common.  This would have the advantage of reducing the strain on the frames when the ship was on the grid.  I don't know about Maid of the Loch, but from this photo of the hull, she looks unlikely to have an external keel, especially as she was assembled in sections.
