All that remains of the Caledonia in Hollycombe Museum. I visited the museum today.

Last one.

I have mentioned to one of the people who run the museum I would be interested in putting together a few posters about the ships history to display . . . . and maybe give the engine a bit of tlc. If nothing else to cover up any corrosion creaping through the primer.

The fire aboard Caledonia meant the loss of a paddler that was eminently suitable for returning to sevice. Thanks for the  photos of her engine. Its sad to see them so poorly maintained. Museums always come up with the same answeres- lack of staff, lack of finance but what it usualy boils down to is lack of knowledge and lack of interest!
my offers to start a "friends society " to help with the day to day upkeep of the PS Wingfield Castle has fallen on deaf ears- they havnt even replied to my letter! Hope you have more success with your service.  Regards, Walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.
