What is this about ponds?  Are there actual ponds built for model boats?  This must be a UK thing?  I'm not familiar with any here in the Pacific North West US.  Any thing on East coast?

We have them Bill. A running pond is used whenever there is no suitable place to run boats during an event. I'll be in Grafton, IL next month and they'll be using a pond. Here's a link to an event in Port Huron, MI that uses running ponds a lot.

I don't have anything to float and it will probably be a long time until I do as I have too many things to get out of the way first ( Am building a  1/12th scale model of a 1910 horse drawn popcorn wagon ( It won't float and  does not have paddle wheels  :lol: ) for a museum.  It is one of those "I wish I hadn't opened my mouth" jobs but it pays very well.   I am however on the board of GEARS a model engineering show which is held in Portland, Oregon USA, each September.  Was wondering if there was enough interest that it would attract enough boats to  justify a pond.  Maybe even a small starter pond?

There are a couple of big r/c boat shows that go on in that area each year. Try contacting Doc Gary Nelson. He's an incredible modeler and should know about regattas in Washington and Oregon.
