Here's something I stumbled across the other day - This is a work of art! It's a 1:8 scale model of the Waverley's engine room and paddlewheels. YES it really is a model and it's HUGE!

Anyone know who built it, and where the model is now?

Eddie - on the PS Wayerley site in the old Yahoo days there was a further link to this model - from memory there was a snap of an elderly man with white hair & glasses sitting amid ships in the model - [he looked a bit like Albert Einstein] - he was the builder I think - Derek

The builder of this model :?:  is Robert Mc Luckie he lives near Edinburgh, i meet him in 2002 aboard the Original Waverley, he organized a guided tour around the engine and on the next day i meet him at home at his attic workshop. It was amazing to see this model just 24 hours after seeing the original. Normally you could run it with steam but unfortunately on my visit the boiler was broken, so i could only be powered by hand it was a great visit. First when i saw the photos here at the forum i wasn't sure but the one with builder name shows me it is Robert's model.

Great thing with about 16 year's of work. Once i have translated a report written by Robert for the German Steam model magazin " Maschienen im Modellbau" it was released in issue 01.2002

Sorry  Eddy thats my mistake,

some years ago after completing the engine Robert wrote an article for an english model magazine, he gave me a copy and i have made the translation for the german magazine but i can ask him for putting it to the forum.

i have asked Robert about posting the article to the forum, and he will it probably do but what about copyright's of the model magazine who has published it first. In germany there isn't a copyright on articles out of newspapers and magazine's but i don't know the British law, any idea what to do?

As far as I'm aware there aren't any copyright issues, as it's HIS material. I have to admit I'm no expert on copyright law, but if the magazine concerned contacted us about it I'd simply remove it from the forum. Though I doubt that would happen.

Most issues of copyright are dealt with by asking for the material to be removed - Costly legal battles are only used as a last resort.
