I still have to finish my build of the Suter sternwheeler, but she who must be obeyed has got me decorating right now, so it will be a week or so until I get round to it again....

In the meantime, I've been collecting stuff together for my next project, the paddler "Glen Sannox". As I posted in the Paddlewheels forum, a set of etched brass wheels have been purchased from Waverley Models, and I've found the following photos of the real ship which I thought I'd share so you can all drool over what to me is one of the most attractive paddlers ever built!

Did you know that except for the colours the first two pics are the same oh and the mountains in thesecond picture are bigger, but seriously the people are in the same spot, is the second one a postcard becasue it would explain the building up of the scenery and the coliur used to attract people to the boat and cruises.

Today I bought a post card, it's the echuca wharf with wool barge unloading, it might hve been a photo once but it's a coloured one now...made ages ago. It cost me 15 aus dollars, it would have cost me 20 if it weren't for a crease on the photo...and mum staring at the owner of the stall!

Yes - the second one is a postcard - the "artist" has "doctored" it a bit by including Goat Fell, the highest mountain in Arran in the background.

Prior to World War One, many of the railway companies, including the Glasgow & South Western which owned GLEN SANNOX produced a wide range of postcards intended, as you suggested, to publicise their services. Collecting postcards was quite a "craze" at that time.

I have seen this card on ebay, and also another very nice one in the same series of the Ayr excursion steamer JUNO.

It's going to be a lovely model.
