I think your`e right Damien , its all  a little risky I think......

How many are you using? and what about a dome topped vent above each to get air flow and thus cooling.

Good question Damien ....to be honest , I don`t know how many ?

I had thought of mushroom vents , over each light fitting perhaps .....just like you suggest.

Maybe its just safer to use strip led side lighting ?

It may be self defeating with all that foam for heat protection to have heat producers in the ceiling.

Can lights  idea scrapped I think ,

Fitting ceiling panels .

Each panel is approx 4 x 4 ft .

96 square ft. Some fiddly trim work to do now.







Up and down the ladder ...measure ....cut .....trial fit .......adjust if necessary ....slow and a little tedious .

I have completed  my rear deck railing .

50 x 50 mm ( 2 x 2 inch )  treated pine.

The top rail has a 19 x 90 mm (3/4 x 4 inch) hardwood cap epoxy glued on top.

The top rail is  seated in a shallow notch cut into the rear post.







Post anchored with strong steel brackets.



A single 100 mm stainless screw holds the upright in place while the epoxy glue sets.





The entire structure feels sturdy and safe , but heavy steel brackets will be added .

Canvas was glued around timber battens and fixed in place with stainless steel cup washers over another larger washer. All screwed down with heavy gauge stainless steel screws.

Really coming together now

I bought a pair of these for above dark spots  perhaps may suit your needs the ones I have now not quite bright enough have no heat output.
Lots to choose from on ebay.

The time is approaching when I need to run some electrical cable .

I was considering running some cable over my ceiling panels ( polystyrene ).

Has anyone here any experience with this phenomena or even heard of this before ?

Its a new one to me ?

It`s actually raining here today !

So , I moved inside and started on some finish trim work in the front cabin.

Hello all ,

I did some more recycling today.

Found these in my travels to town today and could not pass them by.

Dirt cheap and the lead light glass was in perfect condition.







The only down side to this was the " ugly eighties " router work.

I took out the glass and cut away the entire ugliness with a straight cut router bit.

The new cut became the new rebate for the glazing bead , so the inside face of the door was turned around to become the outside of the door.

These measure 860 mm high x 480 mm wide and will be a good size for some internal cabin cabinets.

I like giving old ,  no longer wanted things a new life.

  Your boat but I liked the original routed look each to their own ideas. 

But .......

It dates that door Damian ......sooooo ....1980s ?   

This is the original federation look ....plain square edges.
