Isn't that Ken [with his right hand on the hand rail] with the GREEN spray jacket just looking down on the stern 1/4 checking on the vent angles for me?

mmmmmmmm PD's.....next time Waverley goes in for a refit...best get those blokes  with their "ODD Lites"    [theodolitie thingies] to check the angularity & parallelism of the masts  ...cause they are OUT of wack  >>>>>>  just look at a 1/4 stern view below

There are many ways of confirming that Waverley's masts are OOW [OZ for out of wack]  ...I could provide a page & a half of mathematical formula.....however decided empirical evidence is better suited for this QEII long weekend here

So I have employed my trusty NSW RFS [rural fire service] plastic ruler [made in China] to clearly display the angularity & lack of parallelism in Waverly's masts

Now mind you  ...I am looking at the image on my 27"BENQ monitor with super flat panel [HDMI + senseye+photo] image.... not sure what that means ...but let the image confirm the truth...

From this I rest my case......& suggest that they [the accused mast installers] should be flogged & tried @ ye Olde Bailey & when found guilty be deported ....but not to OZ....as we have too many  here already........  Derek

the effect you are observing in the picture is due to 'barreling' on the camera lens. The masts ARE parallel. In the past professional photographers used a rising front and slew front camera to counter this effect which is most noticable in photos of buildings and structures wth many vertical and horizontal lines.

Quite correct Stuart, nowadays it can be corrected in photoshop but I rarely use it.

To me here in OZ....the truth is clear....the masts are OOW...no parrallex error   
In OZ the only "barrelling" error is when the contents of the said barrel  are consumed too quickly

I do not dispute that a photoshop PC software packege could distort the image & correct the OOW parallelism of the masts ,,,,,,,,, but at the expense of distortion of the hull lines ..... ...which naturally at deck level would appear without question.....

In OZ...things are either vertical or horizontal....& never built @ 2.47839' degrees off axis as are the masts on Waverley.....Derek

May as well stick my oar in here! I know nothing about any photographic effects, but as far as I can see,  from photos (old & new),& plans, Waverley's mainmast is very slightly more "raked" than her foremast when viewed beam on. Just the way it looks to me, & i'm open to correction.
Last season, when viewed from dead ahead, the top of the mainmast was visible, when it should have been hidden behind the foremast, suggesting that one or both masts were not totally vertical when seen from that position...maybe some stays over tightened? Probably easy enough to fix, I haven't seen her this year, so it would be interesting if someone could get a pic from dead ahead (or very close to dead ahead) so we can see if this is the case. Failing that I will get one when she is on the Clyde. (great photos on this thread by the way).
That said, she is looking great this year, hope she has a busy season.

since WAVERLEYs  masts were done in her Yarmouth refit, maybe it was ENGLANDs goal keeper who done them
