Engine is on the IoW. She will remain static but it looks as though her future is secure . .

The engine is at Blackgang Chine which is more an amusement park than a museum

Here are some pictures of her engines:

and a model on display...

They are in superb condition. I'd quite like to see them running in a certain ship.. ;D

Called in to see for myself last week.

It was great to see the work that had gone into getting this right. I have some video that I will post on Youtube when I get chance - the only thing missing was the smell!

Well worth a visit . . one of the best museum exhibits I've ever seen . . .

Hi there,

Just seen posts on the Compton Castle, good to see the eninges well care for but sad stuck in a museum, but of course better than scrapped, are there not another set onthe IOW in not such good shape? Caladonia? hope the ship is secure, although good to get her clear of potential development area, better as you say in one piece, but if done properly and only alternative I guess in bits, welding very good these days! one of the few left now, as per my comments on Ryde and others, many thanks,

Johnk

Nay, they're preserved at the Hollycombe Steam Collection in Liphook.

Does this mean work has stopped? It seemed to be progressing in this photo, taken in October...

Has anyone heard anything of late about CC ? Last I heard was 'restoration' would continue and a new tenant would be sought.
