...still, i expect those details would be useful to an identity fraudster

"The following points are some things to look for in order to identify a fraudulent email:
- If the email says ‘Winning Notification’ or ‘Lottery Sweep Stake’ in the text, the email you’ve received is not from UK National Lottery;
- We don’t tell players how much they've won in an email; and
- We don’t ask for any Player information like name, address or bank details on an email."

I'll have to watch out for that one, thanks for bringing it to our attention

I have to update my account details at Barclays bank and National Westminster bank..... So the email says - Just click on the link to do it....

That should be a laugh as I've never had an account with either bank!

I honestly find it hard to beleive that anyone would fall for these scams, but I assume someone must or they wouldn't keep sending them?

I also have to send my details so I can claim the $2.6m that is sitting in a Nigerian bank They will transfer the money to my account, and I automaticaly get 10% just for handling the transaction.

Who do they think they are kidding?

My advice - even if the email looks genuine, NEVER click on a link! Always phone the bank or company concerned, and do so by looking up the phone number yourself, DO NOT accept the number in the email is genuine! The chances of a genuine contact being made by email is about 1 in a million! And even then they will also contact you in writing or in person!

Better still, get a decent spam blocker - That way you'll never even see this drivel!

I figure the Lotteries in the UK run similar to Lotteries here, and one of the prime requirements is that you have bought a ticket. Not having bought a ticket was my first clue that it was a Freud. My Spam filter normally catches them, but this one slipped through. I copied and posted it here just for fun. My Dad did win on the Irish Lottery when I was about eight years old, I think he got more enjoyment out of the fact his name was published as a winner then he did out of the prize, which was one of the small ones.
