Hi PD's....& yes a rhetorical question 

Over the past months....[& many years] ....we have seen similar "old" questions from new members ....& similar responses in short term threads....often referencing previous work.....but we never seem to get back into the previous/original thread material

So.... we welcome a new member & refer to our BRILLIANT PD text history .....& what happens?....new threads....simply restating our previous work

This is not a criticism  of the BEST PD site in the universe...but just a question on the best way to get new members to SELF HELP & read our archives   

Hello all, and a hearty welcome to any new members. As Derek so succinctly points out the numerous repeats of common thread could be alleviated by the use of the very good search facility at the top of the page (on the right hand side, Derek) and this should assist greatly with any research.

Hi PD's ....& thank's Jim.... ...but this doesn't necessarily help a new member to search if they are not sure where to search... ....

Now  .... ...if this php software could support a 'stand alone'.... 'search window'........possibly from the 'Main Menu'........

It's already there Derek, look at the "Search" menu at the bottom left of the screen - Just click on "Forum", "Gallery" etc etc, to search the area you want....

To me this is clear that others must think that we CONVICT stock are not paying our way  ...I can only report on the facts as presented to me on the screen  & my original thought was to eliminate the burden of new members ........in accessing our wealth of information...

No, no, no.... NOT the menu buttons across the top of the Forum Derek, the Menu selections in the left hand window!!
