Hi PD's - just trying to understand this Australian Library WEB site  :computer   & have attached a snap of PS Marion........

"PS Marion down by the Bow....on the Port Side" so will post & see the result  :music... when we consider the dissipation of chimney smoke... why is PS Marion angeled or floundering the way she suggests :?:... please also note the rudder angle being say 5 degrees to port???

Derek, I have had experience with the "Ginger Belle" - "Thompson Belle". when the vessel rolls and digs a paddle in that wheel does all the work resulting in an ever faster turn and so the little port rudder to correct the course. and prevent a complete turn-around.

Hi PD's & thanks Rayman.... from the snap we see

1) Marion is not in the middle of Lake Alexandrina [which can get rough]
2) the water appears relatively smooth
3) the snap doesn't clearly show what the trees are doing
4) the 3 passangers at the stern appear comfortable with the conditions
5) Marrion has approx 2' 6" of freeboard at bow & stern in normal conditions........ not really sure why she is floundering  :?:

My feeling is that Marion has a permanent list to port.
I do have photos (taken from PS Industry) on one of the few occasions when I was following Marion on another boat.
However, they are not on the hard drive.

On a quick skim of those which are available on the hard drive, I have found several listing to port (but taken with passengers crowded to that side as the boat docks); one listing to starboard (while moored); and some vertical.

You would have to look at the many which I have posted before to form your own opinion.  Most are in the APAM LoP thread; some are with Mary Ann somewhere else.

I enclose on which I sent to the Friends of Marion newsletter, taken at this year's Goolwa Wooden Boat Festival.  It does seem to be vertical.
