We now have the ability to "Chat" online..... A chat program has been installed, just click on "Chat Room" at the top of the forum to access it. This is ONLY visible to users who are registered.

So how about making a regular day to "chat" when we can all get together and talk about paddlers??

May I say that the chat prgram is a brilliant Idea!

Edyy do you log onto the chat room by yourself or do you wait for someone to ask...coz if people would log on as soon as they get here and log off as soon as they were gone then the world would be a better place to chat adn I wouldn';t have to talk to myself! lol

Eddy Matthews

The idea is to sort out a definate day and time when we can get together and chat Sean - That way all our users know when people are likely to be online.

Of course, if say, our Australian users wanted to chat on a particular day and time amongst themselves, then please feel free to arrange that amongst yourselves.... The chat room is there, but I cannot force people to use it.

To make things a bit easier, I've added some code to the forum so you can now see who is in the Chat Room - Just look at the bottom of the main forum page at the "Who is online" section....

I hope that helps?

Well, from the few people that have answered the poll, the concensus seems to be for a saturday chat.... Now all we have to do is decide what time to hold it??

There are obvious problems because we are all over the world, so we have to be realistic..... I would suggest a 1 hour chat session to start with, until we see how things go, maybe between 9pm GMT to 10pm GMT - I'm sure most people can work out their local time based on Greenwich Mean Time??

So that would be morning in Australia/NZ, teatime-ish in the USA and late evening here in the UK.

Unless anyone has a better time of course? I'm open to suggestions.

So how about giving the Chat Room a go next week guys??

As I suggested, between 9pm and 10pm GMT - Lets see if we can get a bit of interest going, talk about anything to do with model boats.... Although we are a paddler site first and foremost, I think that may be a bit limiting for a general chat.....  Any comments?

Did I miss the chat...and I dunno how early I can get onto the internet especially on (what would be I do belive) a  Sunaday morning (I sleep in) But I'll usually be one when i log on so people can chat to me then...or run and hide whichever sounds better.

(and that code helps a bundle!)

Ah good....dunno if I can get on though...rrrrr gotta hate time differences! Is there any chance of having like a clock on the site that says like rough times in different countries, coz that would be handy for the chat

Okay, I've started to write a pretty basic timezone clock - You can see it at the bottom of each page of the forum.... Just click the buttons below the clock to get the for that location. I've added a few places that I know the time difference for, but if you want somewhere specific, your going to have to tell me what the time difference is based on GMT - Also bear in mind that I cannot put every location into it or it will become HUGE!!

Ah thats all I wanted Eddy and I'm glad that you appear to be a whiz at the web...by the way is there any chance you know the HTML code for a download...to download a excel document to be exact. Coz my website really needs that code to run and I don't know it! ahhhhh

Sorry Sean - HTML isn't my thing..... I tend to use Java or PHP scripts. In fact I don't even know if it can be done using plain HTML?

The timeclock idea has been played around with.... You'll now find a button at the bottom of the forum and photo gallery pages that says "World Time Clocks" - click the button to view the clocks which show the time around the world....

If anyone wants a specific time clock adding, just let me know the location and the time difference based on Greenwhich Mean Time (GMT). It only takes a few seconds to add a new clock so it's no big deal to me...

I hope you find them useful....

Just a quick reminder about our first ever online chat tomorrow if anyone is interested?

Click on "Chat Room" at the top of the forum - I'll be there between 21:00 and 22:00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). I hope a few of you will take the time to join in.... Remember, chat about anything to do with model boats, NOT just paddlers - And hopefully a bit of friendly banter as well while we get to know each other.
