Epoxy thinners

There is a product called T.P.R.D.A
( Timber Preservative and Reactive Diluent Additive)
which is used with WEST and BOTE-CODE Epoxy which
really penetrates the timber.
Made in Australia, so dont know if its available o'seas.

Do you know who manufactures this product? Maybe they have a website
(who doesn't!!) I've emailed West Systems in the USA to see if they
have information on this or a similar product in North America.

Just for the benefit of those of us in Canada I think the
people you want to contact are "US Composites" they can be accessed
by calling up west systems fibreglass in "Yahoo" and follow up from

Here is an idea that may help. Isopropyl alcohol 99% pure mixed with a slow
cure epoxy (20 or 30 Min.) will thin the epoxy enough to create a
penetrating solution . mix 1 part isopropyl to 1 part mixed epoxy for the
first coat the use a second coat with !/2 part alcohol to 1 part epoxy, sand
lightly between coats. You must use 99% isopropyl not the lower grade in
Canada you may have to ask your druggist for it as it is kept behind the
counter to stop human consumption. this also makes a good finish for wooden
hull boats like Dumas runabouts where you like to have the wood grain show.
finish it off with a spar varnish to provide a UV protection. For those of
you who want to build your one fly rods or touch up your old ones this works
on this also!!!!!
