Photo Galleries
« on: January 09, 2005, 05:50:22 AM »
We've added a photo gallery to the message forum - Click on the "Photo Galleries" link at the top of the message forum to access it.

Because we don't have unlimited webspace, we have to limit the size of the photos to a maximum of 800 * 600 and 120Kb. If either of those limits are broken the image will be rejected and won't appear online.

To create a gallery that users can view, after clicking on "Photo Galleries", click on "Your Personal Gallery" and then click "Upload Pic". You can then enter a description for the photo you are uploading and use the "browse" function to find it on your hard drive.

If you have problems using the facility, either because you need to upload a larger image, or can't get to grips with the Photo Gallery, send the files to admin@paddleducks.co.uk and we'll do the work for you.

Regards
Eddy

I've added one just to try it (it is of a paddle tug though...) When I click on 'photo galleries' I only get my personal one, how do I look at others?

Easy - Click on "Photo Galleries" at the top of the forum page, look below "Public Galleries" and you'll see the following text:

Users Personal Galleries >> Your Personal Gallery

If you click "Your Personal Gallery", it will take you to your own album page, however, if you click on "Users Personal galleries" you will get a listing of ALL users galleries - Then just click on the username to enter their gallery and view the photos they've uploaded...

I hope that explains it? It's much easier to do than explain in text!! :-)

OK, thanks, that seems to work - and I must say the Creole Queen looks spectacular, as do Towboat Joes' models (though I have seen those before  :) )

Now I know how it works I've replaced the earlier pic with two of the model currently under construction... :?:

I'm glad you understood my instructions mjt60a (sorry but if you don't sign your msgs my hopeless memory doesn't remember what your real name is!). I know I should remember everyone, but handles do nothing for me I'm afraid - It's a sign of old age you know! :)

Anyway, keep the pictures flowing buddy - We all appreciate them!

I should make a signature with my name in it! (which is Mick, by the way...)
I'll update the photos each time there's noticeable progress on the ship, and I'm looking forward to posting one of it on the water for the first time.
Right now I've just covered the hull with fibreglass and resin and it looks like it's coated in marmalade so I'll likely be spending most of the weekend sanding it down  :|

...Ahh, I've just discovered the limit to the number of 600-pix-wide photos that can be posted...
...I think I'll make a photogallery of my own (I have plenty of website space, courtesy of BT) then link it somehow  :D

Ooops sorry Mick - I meant to remove that limit but forgot! I've done it now, so you should be able to upload lots more....

OK thanks, I'll give it another go tomorrow. In the meantime I've added several pics to my own site here - http://www.btinternet.com/~mjt60a/models/shipmodelindex.html - I must check and see what I did with all the photos I have (waverley - of course! - some of medway queen, john h amos and kingswear castle at chatham, princess elizabeth and tattershall castle in london - before any refits and after the first one - some at lake lucerne - stadt luzern, schiller etc. some at cologne - goethe, rudesheim. and if it's worth it, some of those 'fake' ones - I've seen four on the thames in 2004 - I'll put those on my site as a sort of curiosity, keep to models on here)
