Hello form Plymouth
« on: November 21, 2023, 11:45:44 PM »
Hi

I’m Neil from Plymouth, UK, and have been building and restoring full sized boats for many years, got into the model side about 2 years ago and have a range of models in different sizes and scales; a mix of powerboats and yachts. Have mainly restored older boats though have built a 1:24 Perkasa and currently have a 1:48 British Yard Mine Sweeper build  on the bench along with the current restorations of an RAF launch and a 1970s Marblehead yacht

I’ve recently bought a number of hulls, kits and boats from a local auction.  The last lot I bought was a collection of all the boats that didn’t sell in the previous auction including a 4’ stern wheeler.

Not had a paddle boat before and the more I cleaned and repaired this boat the more I liked it, so have been spending a fair bit of time reading about paddle steamers and came across this site. I think this is based on a river gunboat. Have put all the other projects on a back burner while sorting the stern wheeler.

I also have a 1:48 Waverley hull that I was going to sell, but having got into paddle steamers I think I’ll add that one to the project list, so be prepared for lots of questions!
