becker rudder
« on: October 18, 2016, 11:53:29 PM »
any one tried a becker rudder , large area , on a paddler??
i would like to know how it went.
this is the type of rudder w a large blade behind the main blade that turns sharper than the main blade
i have a simple paddle tug that i am thinking of trying this on , but it could be 12 months away
thanks for any views

I'm not sure if a becker rudder would help with a paddler as the main problem is a lack of water flow over the rudder, particularly at low speeds.

But hey, experimenting is fun. So give it a try and let us know!

i cant try it due to a major bust up and no work shop for 6-24 months, un faithfull wife
i would make it a large blade area , but as beckers tend to increase turning force , i would expect it too help
i will try it as soon  as i start building again
