PBM Edwardian Paddlesteamer Build
« on: January 25, 2016, 04:35:42 AM »
Well after a long layup I am Finally building a new paddler, I acquired a almost complete kit for the PBM Edwardian paddler. I say almost complete as there are a few parts missing mainly from the superstructure. The bulkheads that were lost I can fabricate from light ply but the superstructure will have to be redesigned and made from styrene sheet. being a largely freelance boat I can use builders license. I will let you know how I get on.
Cheers Chris M

Hi all.
Well I have finally started building the hull. I have deepened the hull by 10mm with an extra layer of balsa to help with stability and made up the missing bulkheads with light ply. She is constructed with a combination of  ply panels for most of the hull and balsa bread and butter for the aft area, with the base of the hull in now 20mm thick balsa. This went together relatively easily but I may have to replace some of the deck pieces due to bad warping. It took quite some time and an awful lot of shavings to clean up and shape the hull (its amazing where the stuff gets to). Next jobs, cover the hull with glass cloth and start on the drive.
Cheers Chris M
