My paddlewheel frigate.
« on: July 21, 2014, 07:20:08 PM »
Hi ALL!

This is first my pic in this forum. This is 3D image of 32 pounder Blomfield pattern 1796 gun on slide pivot mount for my paddle fregate project.

Now I am working on hull plans and research it main dimension, masts and wheels position etc.

With best regards - Vladimir

PS. Picture is very big. How I may place tumbmail, with zoom?

PPS. Look, I fix it!!!  :D

Hi Vladimir
Good looking gun!!Will you meke them firing??
Your photo is really huge, you can brig them to smaller size with IRFAN VIEW, for free at Chip Downloads.
Hope this Link works in Russia  http://www.chip.de/downloads/IrfanView_12998187.html
Best regards from Vienna
Gerhard

PS.: What 3D program do you use for this?? Graphics are great!!

It is a old render of first iteration of construction. Now I will re-start with new info.

Hallo Wladimir
Good rendering in good picture-sisze! :)
I`m drawing all on the board by hand, it`s a lot of work to do, but I`m not that firm on 3D-Programs.
That ship looks very interesting.

Regards from Vienna
Gerhard

I was using old version of rhino and old version of autocad, I had bought it few years ago. Also, I was tried lot of free 3D program for Linux and think I will find that perfect for our hobby. Finally, we mustn't create full project documentation for factory, isn't it? Any 3D program is only tools for our creations.

I`m using IMSI 3D-Cad, very good software for machinery, but the ships bodys are all "handmade" it`s more easy for me.
Please keep us informed of the progress, thank you!!
Greetings

I have used IMSI Turbocad since the '90's. I had V3.

Since upgrading to Windows 7 this no longer would install or work so I bought a copy of Turbocad 18 on Ebay. Very nice it is too and fully backward compatible.

However as another not fully proficient with these tools and who struggles with 3D I too tend to go for manual drawing and constructions.

Best Regards

BTW: Gerhard....my mother was born in Wien, Ottakring...I know the city quite well...I wonder where you are?

I`m using 3D CAD Max 22 on WinVistaSP2, no problem to work with. But; as I wrote, for machinery only, ships hulls are easier for me by hand!

To your request, I was born and raised in Simmering, the 11th district, and still live there. Could just not manage, to set the point at the users map, silly me!!
Best regards
Gerhard

Hi all.

I am doing active letter exchange between me and Science Museum's officers and Naval Maritime Museum's officers. Unfortunately, all contemporary models of HEIC Nemesis, as well as plans, was lost. So, I am creating 3D model based on blind lithographies and text descriptions in "United Service Journal", "Narraitives..." of Nemesis' journey, Dupuy de Lome's "Mémoire sur la construction des bâtiments en fer" etc. It's very slow process...

Hi Vladimir

Sorry to hear that the Science Museum approach didn't yield results.

Look forward to your further progress on the 3D model.

Cheers... Bernie

Hi All.

According to one of Science Museum's officer, the model of Nemesis which was demonstrated in 1876. was only leased, and was returned to owner between 1889 and 1911...
