Manuwai
« on: March 07, 2013, 01:52:32 PM »
Hi fella's, been away for some time now but it looks like plenty for me to read.
In Ians post on "Manuwai," She had no skegs that I can recall and 3 small rudders
You want to keep her floating dead level and if possible run with her head down just a little. Later in life (mid 1930's) a stretcher was added to the fantails and two more monkey rudders added. The staggered floats was to avoid float slap although later these were extended the full width. There was a small degree of set in the float frames
to allow the floats easier entry. Keep the wheel just clear of the bottom.
I think she was a bit of a looker in her heyday.

regards Ray
