Waverley late Western Isle Cruises
« on: March 15, 2012, 04:13:49 AM »
Hi PD's

does one of you know why the Western Isle Cruises are not around the Bank Holiday weekend in May?

I have allready planed my holiday from the 29th. of April for three weeks and now i discovered the late date of the cruises. It is sad but i will not chance the whole thing, so no Waverley sailings in 2012 for me :'( :'( :'( and my girl friend.

Regards Hans

Hi Hans. I dont know the whole story but I was at the AGM last november and it was mentioned that after the fiasco of last years extended drydocking which delayed the main sailing season , that WAVERLEY would be dry docked earlier in the year. That may be the cause for the change in the normal western islse routine. I hope this is correctand not a mistake on my part. regards, Walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.

The late May bank holiday has moved back a week to 2 June for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this year.
There were suggestions that Waverley be moored in London as part of a Diamond Jubilee River Pageant, but that would have been too expensive for the company to have her out of service for several days each side of this, and sponsorship was sought but was in the end not forthcoming.
I think the double bank holiday will give Waverley more passenger numbers than the early May one
If you are already booked for the beginning of  May, I can recommend the Caledonian Canal trip on Rover http://www.clydecruises.com/tours/west-coast-cruise-2012/
Two days from Fort William to Inverness and two days back

Hello Alistair,

thank you for the info about the Waverley sailings.

So i have to wait for 2013 to go aboard and sail with her.

best regards Hans
