hello
« on: October 19, 2011, 04:02:43 AM »
hi ,i am new here , and hoping to learn ..i recently got running a pintail launch for a nephew .  and thought i would like to have a go at a  launch with a steam powered motor
still not sure about any of that ,   but i have a copper kit to build a boiler (vertical ) ,  and would like a design or the optimum sizes fora boiler ..the diameter is 63 mm .  but i am not sure on the length the boiler tank should be
i aim the fit cross tubes and maybe hedgehog  pins to give heat
i do not want to go to great expense .. so aiming for a spirit type burner of some sort  .
i would like to have a twin cylinder engine of some type   and would like a good kit to build as i have no real access to machinery .
so it needs to be machined ready .
also i would like to know the best thread sizes and feed pipe sizes
    regards sandgrounder

Welcome to you!!!!! Maybe a few details on how big a launch you plan on and if you have a type of engine in mind....lime a twin or single, reversing capable or not etc..

That will help determine your steam supply needs , then some can chime in with a size recommendation !!

Once again

Glad to have you about

thanks
i missed that totally, the launch ,or vessel would need to be about 24 =26 inches long due to space for storage
and the engine i thought of was the GAGE TVR1A
