Hello from Rye

Found the site whilst browsing for information on radio control model ships (I have a couple already) and Thames and Medway pleasure cruisers.  You may have heard of Mike Alsop - he's written a few articles in the model ship magazines - and I've "accidentally" bought a model that he has built of the Jeanie Deans (and later Queen of the South) and will be taking delivery during the next week or so. So looking for hints and tips on operating a large model paddler, together with an area of water near Rye that has sufficient space to sail her on!  Other interests include (full size) flying, model railways and home cinema. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide to a beginner in this particular part of the hobby, and maybe meet some of you along the way.

Jeanie Deans is now with me. What a beautiful model! Hasn't sailed for some time so am looking to put her in the water when I have tidied her up a little (she's been sitting on a shelf for some time so is very dusty as well). One thing I have noticed whilst "dry running" the paddles is that the motor emits quite a whine - I suspect down to the fitted electronic speed control - now the subject of another thread.

Some cosmetic repairs are now underway before a water test is undertaken - and the paddleboxes will be returned to their correct black with yellow lining out.....
