Waverley at war?.
« on: July 20, 2011, 06:12:20 PM »
Hello folks- heres one for the books! Whilr I was away working on the Waverley I met a long- retired Scottish engineer with a long connection with Waverley from her earliest days.
He said that in the cold war period (he thinks 1952-3)  during a refit, she had her fore and aft decks heavily strengthened for gun mounts. H e was adament about this as he was involved in the actual work.
I mentioned this to mr Ian Macmillan (One of the directors of the company, a man who has worked on every inch of Waverleys restoration). He verified this, saying that the reinforcements were taken out about 15 years ago.
The mind boggles- anyone for a grey Waverley ?.
  Regards, Walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.

Hi Walter,
Not WAVERLEY at war, but JEANIE DEANS.
Bob Abel on Model Boats magazine web site has built JEANIE in her war time configuration.
