Regulars will deduce correctly from the placement of this thread that Lady Chelmsford was not a paddleboat. I have photos above and below the water.
My surprise is that the sinking was only 2.5 years ago; it seems much further back.
The problem is that the wharf apron won't support the axleload of any crane capable of lifting the vessel. Almost certainly, retrieval will be accompanied by pulping, as with MV Maheno (also in that article). My deckie got a photo as we cruised midstream on one occasion. The coy report after the sinking mentioned that everyone aboard was rescued: two crew, ~28 bucks and two strippers.
