Thanks for posting the pictures Eddy. There were a few more paddlers there, but these have appeered every year I have visited and posted their pic many times. The new pictures are of an unusual Grapner glasgow on which All the superstructure and decks have been neatly planked. Next is a superbly built Billings Hjellan kit and finaly a very nice model of the Paddle tug John H amos. This was awarded a Silver medal in its class at this years NAVIGA scale model bot championships. This was being judged while I was there and there were over 200 models on display for judging, the superb quality of which is unbelievable. I left feeling VERY humbled. There were models from all over the world except the UK which hasnt competed for ten years according to one of the judges. He asked Dave Wooley (taking photos and details for Model Boats) why this might be and we couldnt really answer! Remember that in some countries model medals are on a par with sports and football medals while here we still have the "boys toys" mentality. modelmakers are supported by their governments and are seen as an important training ground for engineers and scientists. Because the Naviga championships took up a large area of the boat hall there were fewer club displays and the model boat dealers were well down. Hopefully it will be back to normal next year. Regards, Walter
