Stuart Badger and RMS Connaught
« on: February 02, 2010, 08:22:02 PM »
Hi PD's,

This is an incredibly difficult message to post, and there's no way to really make this easy, but I have to inform you that sadly Stuart Badger has terminal lung cancer. He has asked that you do not fill the forum up with messages of doom and gloom (His words, not mine!), but try to treat him as you always have and allow his remaining time to be a happy one. He only has limited time left, and because of that he has been tidying up his affairs....

To that end, he has decided that his model of the RMS Connaught should be auctioned, with the proceeds going to support Paddleducks - A superb gesture I'm sure you'll agree!!

So Stuarts model is now available to any member that wishes to make a bid - The model will be sold complete in september, full details can be found on the auction listing HERE Although a modest starting price has been set, it's only a fraction of what the model is worth! So make a bid, you never know you may just win!

The listing gives all the details, but if you have further questions, please post a message here, and either Stuart or I will do our best to give an answer.

Please note: The model will be available for collection from Darlington, Co. Durham. ENGLAND, on or after 19th September 2010 - So no worries about getting it from Greece!!

He does make a couple of requests. First the model must remain in the UK, and that it should be sailed occassionally, if possible at the Paddler Day. Secondly the model must be collected carriage is out of the question!

And finally one point from me, please only bid if your serious about buying the model, given the circumstances I would hope that is the least we could expect of you!

And once again for those that missed it above, the model is up for auction to the highest bidder by clicking on the text below:

RMS Connaught Auction

Eddy

Hi all,

We have a superb offer from Kim Maclean (Talisman). He is prepared to transport Stuart's model from Darlington up to the Glasgow area if anyone is interested? This would be FREE, so if the only thing that's putting you off making a bid is "How the heck do I get it from Darlington to Scotland"? you now have a solution!

Regards
Eddy

The end date of the auction has been changed to 28th February 2010 - That's the end of THIS MONTH!!

The reason for this is quite simple, Stuart needs to make arrangements to transport the model to England, and that cannot be done at the last minute hoping that there will be a buyer!

Bear in mind it is going to cost a lot of money to ship, and that is at Stuarts expense. So the extremely modest starting price bears no relationship to the cost of building the model or it' s transportation to England!

Of course it will be September before the model is available for collection, and payment would be expected either in cash when collecting, or via PayPal 14 days before...

If no bids are received it would be pointless in Stuart going to huge expense to ship it, so GET YOUR BIDS IN EARLY - OR MISS OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME!
Don't blame me or Stuart, if you leave things until the last minute and find the model has been withdrawn from sale!

Regards
Eddy
