A.J.Goddard pond-scale steamer
« on: December 15, 2009, 09:52:21 AM »
My pond-scale steamer is nearing completion. Build log here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13738679

Pending a sucessful test in the dog's wading pool (all other water frozen), she will be powered by a Midwest Heritage single acting oscillator. The Midwest boiler will be fired "pot boiler" style, using a ceramic burner on butane. The same scheme was used sucessfully for John's Steam Tramp Winifred.

Sucessful test steamup on the water, after we changed gear ratios from 1:4.6 to 1:7.35. Further details in the build thread (url above).

Long and short versions here:

Pretty against the ice and snow. The ducks did not seem to mind much, just hauled out on the ice.
