Hello all, a strange topic to start off on I know. In Shetland there is a very strong tradition of home bakes for community events and Sunday Teas. While off on holiday this week, we went into the bookshop and while I was browsing in the maritime section my dear lady wife saw a book on, making decorative cupcakes

I'm not going to complain at this point as I love homebakes

The disaster which ensued this afternoon when she decided to try out the recipes within. I left the kitchen at the point of when cooking implememnts were being threatened to become airborne in my direction. I take my hat off to my daughter who managed to persevere with the tantrums being displayed. The object of frustration becoming apparent when it was mentioned in an exasperated tone as to the units of measure and why did the Australians measure in cups? To add injustice to this point the unit of a cup is different depending upon the base material being measured ( it has something to do with volume rather then a direct correlation to weight

) A search is now on to find Australian or New Zealand measuring cups in the UK and failing that we'll ( no make that read, Susan will ) consider ordering from ebay.com.au if
we she can't find them here.
