Hi Derek and Jim,

That folder/directory is the one thats used for the random images on our homepage - The files could be stored anywhere, but I like to try and keep things neat and tidy, so I put them in a seperate directory to keep things simple....

There are lots of other directory's for various bits and pieces, in fact probably hundreds of them!

I hope no-one will take this the wrong way, but one thing I've always been concious of is the fact that if I ever walked way, someone else would have to take over Paddleducks - So it makes sense to try and keep things in a format where they can be understood, rather than having everything all jumbled up in one directory!

Regards
Eddy

Hello Eddy and Derek, it is a simple solution to the directories - we don't let Eddy leave EVER the task as it is is a huge amount of effort to control the site and keep the forum running smoothly.

Unless, Derek do you want to step up to the mark  :whistle

cheers

I have to admit that I have absolutely no intention of walking away at the moment, as I'm sure most of you realise - Even if I did, it would simply be a case of passing over the reigns, so I'd make sure someone was there to take over. I would still be here on a regular basis as I love my paddlers!

But whilst we're on the subject, I have to say that the only time I wonder if all the work is worthwhile is when the forum gets really quiet as it has been for the past couple of weeks.... So come on guys, TALK to each other!!!

Regards
Eddy

I'm still here  'Lurking'  (as they say ) and like to call in once a day.  :whistle

Talking of stoney ground, I'm working in the garden on her instructions. We have (had) a double brick wall, some 45 foot long which looked a simple task to knock down.   :goodluck

For a normal youth it would be a 'piece of cake', but for this pensioner it was the challenge from Hell. What would your approach be?. Hammer and chisel. Club hammer and wide chisel. Sledge hammer. Air compressor and chisel.

Well I've been on all of them and succeeded in breaking the sledge handle. So far it's taken 5 days before the man with the 'sand delivery' called with his hydrolic crane to drop off the building materials.

"Want a hand with that wall mate" says he. "Yes" says I. The crane jaws were lowered on the remaining bit of wall and it was prompley crunched off and swung around and dropped onto the heap, where it broke to a shower of bricks. Woops of delight and a tenner for his pocket.   :beer

Morel of the story is to pay your way. It saves a lot of time and labour. Now I can get back to boat building sooner. The model street lights from China can now be fitted to Waverley and all the dust of storage can be cleaned off as we are now back in the land of pleasure.  :gathering

Here's a picture of the work so far. The idea is to use the bricks as filler to raise the lawn to match the rest of the garden.

Sorry to hijack your thread Eddy, more a sort a wander off the subject really.  ;)

Ken

Hi Ken,
Over here you would have the City bylaw officers down on you for that. They would give you 48 hours to have it cleaned up. Then they fine you and have there over paid crew come in and take twice as long as a private contractor to remove it. They then add this to your taxes plus a disposal fee.
Regards,
Gerald

Hi Gerald.

Where are you then, with such draconion rules?  Over here people leave this sort of mess for sometimes years.

Hopefully it will all be covered over soon, but at the moment i've run out of energy to clear it up.  :coffee

cheers

Hi Ken,
I am in Toronto, Canada.
I have had problems with the bylaw officers ever since I reported some of them drinking on the job and hinting that a bribe would solve a problem. The investigation by there superior claims that I misunderstood what they were saying and that despite the case of beer on the picnic table they were all drinking bottled water.

Once you get involved with 'them guys' your with them till the end.

Luckily, I don't need to inform them of anything going on, so I'm keeping my head down.  (it's diferrent with the neighbours though. Millions of questions, but no actual physical help !!)

Not a lot to do with the Index I know but at least we are talking to each other Eddy! Ken, I thought you would have known by now that the best way to get anything demolished, quietly and in the middle of the night, is to put a small item in your local paper or on the radio saying that the wall (or whatever) must be preserved for posterity regardless of cost. It would be gone by morning around our way! Cheers, Ian.
