Regards you buzz noise, this is covered on the Model boat Mayhem's site.  I had the same problem. Seems it's to do with the speed controller sending out high frequency pulses and cannot be got rid of until the motor starts rotating a bit faster. I had the motor clamped to a steel chassis, which amplified the noise somewhat. I changed the design and bedded the motor onto rubber which helped it improve a bit.

Hope this helps.

ps... Are you going to put little people on those bench seats? ;)

Thanks Ken. I managed to stop it completely because the controller was sending out a bit of frequency and the motor was trying to turn. So I adjusted it so it didn't. I might add people on the seats, I don't know where I could get 1/36th scale ones.

If you measure the height of the seat from the ground, multiply this bit 3 to get the height of the model person. Then your search begins.  :D  Your probably looking for some about 2 inches high.

My latest craft is 1/32 and I've found out that the people scale is the same as Scalectric toy racing cars people. Sitting down people can made by dipping them in hot water and then bending them to fit the chair. Mind you, I wouldn't like it done to me.  ;)

1:35 is a standard military modelling scale, so there are LOADS of soldier figures available, and it's so close to 1:36 that no-one will ever notice the difference!

Just depict the model as it was during the war, and hey presto, job done! :)

Alternatively, if your selective on the figures you buy, you can modify them to look like civilians with careful use of a scalpel and small files - A bit of painting and your there.... Many of the tank crew figures are easily modified this way.

Thanks Eddy and Ken. I'll look for some military figures that can be (fairly) easily be made into civilians.

Some civilian figures http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-35-Scale-Plusmodel-Figures-Civilians-Diorama-Resin_W0QQitemZ260367042166QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN?hash=item260367042166&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
They're resin so will have to be standing. I found some Tamiya Army Generals who don't carry weapons so no work will need to be done on them. But they're very dear, maybe I can find some second hand. If not I'm going to have to cough up!

Sorry about the lack of activity, I've not had the chance to do anything with her!
I did some work on her yesterday. This was the construction of the Fiddley (eased thanks to the brilliant photos on KC's website of the new boiler, with the new Fiddley before it was lifted aboard.), moving the winch foward (I don't know why it was on the main deck infront of the hatch). Anyway here are some photos.

New entrance to engine room. Looks a bit scruffy, I admit, but when you look at it on the model you can't tell.

The winch moved foward. You can see where it was on the deck. I need to cover up the hole, I'm thinking of a hatch or something.

She has now gained the paddle box carving.

The new fiddley. The cream seating on the side is just posed for the photo, the bits underneath need painting brown. The brown bit (which on the real thing covers the boiler) needs to be raised a bit, I'm going to put a few layers of card underneath, and it won't be noticable, you wouldn't see the card.

There is now a history of the real ship on the stand.

That's all for now, what do you think?

I saw some 1/36th figures the other day, and thought they looked a wee bit big. I've just done that and it turns out I need people 3cms high! The 1/35th ones are 5. Which means the model isn't 1/36th...

If the figures need to be 3cm high, that equates to approx 1:60 scale....
