Over the last month we've had two major issues to deal with - Firstly the amount of bandwidth we were using which was spiralling out of control, and secondly the number of spammers that were registering on Paddleducks...

After changing the criteria for allowing access to our downloads section, we've gone from over 130Gb of bandwidth last month, to only 5Gb in the first two weeks of this month! Hopefully none of our genuine members have even noticed the change, as they can still grab whatever they want.

And secondly, the changes I made to the registration code have stopped the spammers in their tracks, not one single spam account since I made the changes!

So we're back on track guys....

Sadly it's a never ending battle to keep things under control - There will always be those that just want to take and contribute nothing, and there will always be spammers. The best we can hope for is that we stay one step ahead of both, that way we (who have a genuine interest) can continue to have a website that caters for our needs. without getting swamped by those that are just there to spoil it for everyone.

It's the genuine users that keep me going, otherwise I would have just said "stuff it" long ago...
