Any help on what this is?
« on: August 08, 2008, 05:16:44 AM »
Hello all,
I found a couple of photos of this on the web about a year or so ago when browsing. I was looking for info on another paddle boat (a Mississippi paddler - apologies if that is spelt wrong)! and came up with this plus a couple of weird ones. One being a miniature paddle-boat which was powered by a couple of bicycle frames and had room for just two people. I dont think I will make one of them though! (Oh, I dont know - the exercise would help)!! ;D
Back to this one; the only information for it is that it was 18+ feet long and about 3+ feet wide, that it was called - if I recall correctly - a bass fishing boat but I am not too sure. When looking at the photo I should think that it was made in the 30's/40's. (Cannot download as scanner is up the shoot). It only took a couple of weekends while in-between a couple of other projects. Apart from the scale, where I literally replaced a foot with one inch, everything else is how it looks, even down to the fishing rod which is about 5 inchs long and works! I would love to of been able to fit a real engine but realisticly that I cant do.
I was hoping that someone might be able to give me more information for it as it is one of those quirky things I like. The power drive is from the engine to a pulley and from there, to the paddle. I believe it to be of American origin and that is where I expect the photo to of been taken. I have also included a couple of other photos to show that I am serious with my boats!!
With many thanks for any help/information,

Ron.

That was the one. I think the greys cells must be a bit rusty as I was sure it was from a photo. As for what I was looking for, just some general info as to if it was from the US etc. I realise that it is not exactly in the leaque of proper paddlers, but it was something that I felt like making plus, if I see plans of almost anything, then I usually like to try and re-create them!!
