Current problems....
« on: March 07, 2008, 06:36:58 AM »
Our host is experiencing difficulties with their Linux servers - This can give very slow browsing, and occassional #500 Internal Server errors....

They are working on the problem and hope to have it sorted soon.

According to our hosts server status logs, the previous problems have been fixed...... Yeah right!! If you beleive that you'll beleive anything!

After hundreds of errors this morning I've reported it AGAIN - Lets hope they actually do something about it this time around!

For anyone else experiencing these issues I can only apologise - Unfortunately it's out of my hands :(

Hi Eddy - I attempeted to add a new link in PD's ......Model Steam Engines...of

Name = 'modellbau-niggel.de'
WWW. modellbau-niggel.de

My Comment

A German manufacturer of quality and unique steam fittings & accessories for model steam projects ...

However when I submitted the link it advised me that the link must be approved & then when I re submitted it.. got the following error message

The link already exists in category Model Steam Engines with link title of modellbau-niggel.de

Is there a review period for such new link submissions?..if so I was not aware......I assumed the facility for Members to add links was to take the load from yourself or other Moderators

Crash93 recently drew our attention to this WEB site & I have since ordered a component from the owner Winfried Niggel & my vote is that he does have quality unique products at competative costs..so hence my wish to add the link to our WEB site

regards Derek

I plead, and so does Bandit, totally innocent of ALL charges against us.

Unlike some ex convict stock who must have been found guilty, on the grounds they are still in that insect and snake infested swamp they call Oz. Extolling the place as a virtual paradise, just so that we are suckered into going out there to bail them out.

I rest my case, and so does Bandit.

By the way Eddie, I have no idea what he is on about, but I thought I had better humour him.

John

Derek,

Any new links that are posted have to be "Approved" before they become visible - This just prevents any of the spammers from posting unsuitable links....

OK... :sorry..PD's...upon latest information from our Administrator.....the Crown from OZ must withdraw the offence....

Thanks Eddy....I will certainly revise my member listing attributes....which brings into another question :thinking... do we have Family Memberships available in PD's?  :terrific

Bogstandard may wish to nominate Bandit & Vinnie as associate members ...as these [SUB members] certainly assisted & got John through the tough MATHS & artistic work in his treaste of JUNK ...... :beer  :towel

46 of our hosts Linux servers crashed tonight, causing more than 1000 websites to go offline - One of which was Paddleducks! :(

The other issues of slow browsing, and #500 internal server errors still haven't been fixed!

All of these problems originated from when our host upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 - The core code that runs the scripts our website uses to function. My opinion is that they should ditch PHP5 and downgrade back to PHP4....

I realise that this is annoying for everyone - But beleive me, it's more annoying for us, as we pay for this crap service! I'll continue to complain until things are eventually sorted - Or I'll move the whole damned lot to a different host. One way or another this WILL be fixed!!

Okay, rant over.....

Eddie,  never occurred to me until your latest post.   Who pays the fees for the web site?  Is there any way forum members can contribute towards the cost, please?  Oldie.

Hi PD's......Oldie.......I posed this same question in December 2004 :squareone....not sure.....I could always cash in a few  :beer empty beer cans or SNAKE skins [as bogstandard thinks] & convert them to EUROS @ the scrap metal & skin merchant ....&  send then to Eddy..... :hehe :nono :terrific :sunglasses :sobbing :shoot :shhh ...so for every EURO [10] ten I post away I need to include....

10% tax for my bank + extras
10% tax for the receiving bank + extras
10% tax for the conversion rate + extras
45% of landed cost as postage & freight + extras

So my $AUD10 donation now equates my cost prior to transfer of $four thousand & twenty six dollars + 29 cents [+ extras]...see what I mean  :ranting

The site is paid for by myself, Walter Snowdon, and David Allinson - We do it simply because we have a passion for paddlers, and models in particular, and we want to promote that passion to a wider audience...

Ever since Paddleducks was first formed by Paul Jordan, on the Yahoo network, it's always been our wish that this should be free for the members. And that continues to be the case.

So whilst we all sincerely appreciate the kind offers of help, we will respectfully decline Oldie and Derek.
