I wonder if anyone has the equipment to get screen captures from The River Kings. There's a lot of good shots of the Industry in that series. Lots of close ups from all angles.

I have the series on video, but not the equipment! Although my recordings are 15 years old...

I have just posted four extra views to my PS Industry post in the APAM preserved & modern thread in the Research forum (somewhere around page 6). I have found two stern views. They are all smaller than the magic 800 x 600: I cropped, and scanned at 100 dpi, and overdid the shrinkage. They could be redone if Eddy gets insufficient detail from them.

Thanks for the photos Roderick, they help a great deal with the stern of the boat...

A couple of questions about PS Industry that I haven't been able to find definative answer to....
What length was the hull?
What beam was the hull?
What was the beam over the paddleboxes?
How many floats were there on the paddlewheels?

Eddy.
Length and breadth...... minor details!!! just take a photo to the
photo copy shop and have them blow it up to the size you want to build
it!! stick it on the wall and build to it!!
I am thinking that it certainly has to be an easier boat to build than my
P.T.Scotia. Once I get home I am going to make a real effort to finish it.
Soon be 6 years it has been on the stocks!!

How many floats were there on the paddlewheels?....[not stated]

Thanks Derek,
At 1:24 scale that will give a nice size model - 54.125" length, 9.625" beam, 17.33" across the paddleboxes....
Using those dimensions and the plans Sean sent me it looks like it's time to start drawing some plans to work from. I have a few things to finish before I can make a start on it, but it should be a good project for later in the year.

Parsons usually quotes hull depth (moulded depth) rather than draft.
In the case of Industry, I interpret the typing that he has given both:
hull depth 6 ft 6 in (1980 mm, ie 2 m)
draft 4 ft (1200 mm).
This is deeper draft than many vessels, and was the reason for commencing the railway 150th anniversary run at Renmark, and not at Border Cliffs custom house as first planned. It was also the reason for not coming above Renmark during the Randell Cadell voyage, and will probably stop it coming above Renmark in the Ruby Canally run this year.

Sorry PD's ... I have edited & corrected my previous TYPO [4' draft not 4" draft] & understand where Roderick's thoughts on hull dimensions are from
... X6.6, 4'......draft
So based on my incompetence in typing, possibly I should have a draught or two
...... :music
Eddy............PS Industry has exposed [viewable] engine & boiler spaces... in a perfect world, a 1:25 scale model would beautifully suit a
comprising an ACS HB2, GAZ tank & accessories and a JMC5H engine :luck.........................................Derek

Hi PD's - :ohno
... Eddy, nothing wrong with the ACS/JMC combination above... but
... what has happened to that :no1 'Martin, Howles & Bayless' steam paddle plant that you acquired some    years back :?:
'Parsons' does not describe Industry's engine beyond "2 cyl non-condensing stm eng 30hp"...so the twin cylinder + gear reduction drive from the M,H&B setup could be perfect....
When you get time, please re-post the M,H&B snaps... I am sure many newer PD members would be interested....Derek

I have just added a further four photos to my existing thread in APAM modern & preserved (IIRC p5, not p6). In both of my days aboard (2001 & 2004) I did not taken any interior photos: boiler, engine, wheelhouse, dining saloon.

I've just spoken with someone in SA who is extremely knowledgable about the boats, both history & practical. He believes there would be builders plans of the Industry around. But, is not sure where these would be found. The vessel was built for the River Murray Commission, so a couple of places to look might be in SA & Victorian government departments that deal with transport. I'll have a bit of a brain storm & see if I can figure something out.
