DDMBC Paddler Day 2007
« on: February 01, 2007, 03:15:11 AM »
Hi all.  Here is the first early issue of the Paddler Day poster, a special preview for paddleduckers :) .  I hope to see as many of us as possible attending so that a goodly sum can be sent to help MEDWAY QUEEN.  Please let us know if you are coming and how many to expect in order to ensure adequate catering on the day.
Cheers from Bob Golder

That's awesome!

Maybe you could have a photo display of some of the models from paddleducks from around the world on display, show the people in attendance the other kind of models that are appearing around the world.

Also gives us Duckers that can't be there a chance to well...be there.

I don't know, just an idea.

Rest assured.  Many photos and videos will be taken and posted on Paddleducks.  We'll try to include as many owners/operators as well, if they don't object

Thats a good idea Sean. We intend to have picture boards of Medway Queen and i think perhaps a board dedicated to paddleducks models would go down very well! So come on you lot, plenty of pictures posted of building or complete models wanted from you! Regards, walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.

The major arrangements have now been completed, only minor things left to sort out now, so the Paddler Day should be a great success!

If anyone wants printed copies of the poster (image at the start of this thread), full printed directions to get to the event, and a brief letter explaining everything, please let me know and I'll pop one in the post to you - Obviously I'll need your postal address, so don't forget to include that in a private message or email.

As Walter and Bob have stated, we hope to make this a yearly event - And really see it grow into a major event in the modelling calendar, but for that to happen we need your support!

For those that cannot make it, we will be taking LOTS of photographs which will be posted onto Paddleducks, so hopefully you'll get a flavor of what went on.

Just to remind everyone.... We'll be putting up a couple of display boards with photos of Paddleducks members models, but only those that are posted into the photo gallery - So if you have a model you'd like to have included, please upload some photos!

We cannot possibly include every photo, so we'll choose a representative selection of each model to put on display.

DDMBC Paddler Day 2007

Only one month to go until our unique Paddler Day on June 17th in aid of the Medway Queens Preservation fund.

All the final arrangements have been made, and we hope that it will be a great success. Full details of the event, and directions to get there are included earlier in this thread, so I won't repeat them here.

Hot and cold food, tea/coffee and soft drinks will be available at modest prices - Not the rip-off you find at some shows!

It will be a very informal event, with lots of sailing (paddlers only!) if the weather is kind, and we have a reasonable amount of space for displaying models indoors if the weather is unsuitable. Basically it's a get-together for enthusiasts of paddle powered models, to have a peaceful sail, a chinwag, and a pleasant day away from the hassles of normal life!

So come along and enjoy the event, everyone will be welcome, and don't forget to bring a model to sail - it will be interesting to see just how many we can get on the water!

Of course photos will be posted on the website for those that cannot make it...

Only two weeks to go now..... So get your shorts out ready for the trip - Why shorts? Because it WILL be sunny of course! :)

Mike Mayhew of Waverley Models has been in touch, and although he cannot make it to the event, he is kindly donating a set of plans and a fibreglass hull for the Waverley as a prize. Our sincere thanks to Mike for that one!

Other prizes  will be awarded on the day and there will also be a raffle, so you never know, you may just win a keepsake of the event. We also hope to have a Medway Queen stand with goods that you can purchase. Don't forget, it's all in aid of the Medway Queen, so dig deep into those pockets and support a worthwhile cause!

On behalf of Edinburgh Model Boat Club may I wish you all every success for your Paddler Day. Just how many of us finally arrive is open to some debate due to date clashes up here - but I know that a least 2 of us will be present. Don't know about the shorts though - Peter and I have no wish to frighten the spectators off and the mind boggles at the thought of Eddy so attired!

May I wish you well on your ‘Paddlers Day’ hope the elements are kind to you all, after all the hard work that has, and still will be put into this cause for the Medway Queen.

I hope you received your requested sales items from our sales team, I believe Richard Halton done the honours, and sent them.

However, thanks again for all your support and help.

Regards Len Knight webmaster MQPS. :)

Thanks Len,

We've had three days of torrential rain, but nothing compared to what some areas of the country have experienced!!

Tomorrow is forecast for showers, but sunday should be fine and dry according to the forecast - lets hope they are right for once ;)
