How do I post pictures

I have just purchased a digital camera and would like to post pictures of the sternwheeler I am building. I have clicked on photo gallery, your personal gallery then clicked on upload pics. I then clicked on browse and selected the picture and clicked onto submit and NOTHING!
Help please for a computer idiot

How large are the photos your trying to upload Ian?

We currently have an unresolved problem with our host, so any image much larger than 300Kb will fail - If they are smaller than that all should be fine.

Around 2.5 Mb so obviously too big. I am not getting a failure message though, just a blank screen.

The blank screen is normal for the photo gallery Ian - Basically our hosts server has run out of memory trying to process the image

Reduce the images to less than 300Kb and everything should be okay - Sadly this is an annoying problem that I'm powerless to do anything about!  :rant

Most digital cameras will come with image editing software provided on a CD. But they can sometimes be difficult and confusing to use.... If you want something that's fairly straightforward, go to:

Look down the right hand side of the screen, and near the bottom you will find ImageResizer.Exe - Download it, and use it to resize your images.

For those using the Microsoft Office suite, a resizing facility is available within Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
Click on the button 'Picture'
Select resize
You now have a choice of techniques: percentage reduction, or custom.
I use custom, and nominate 800 for the larger dimension
The other is adjusted to match.
I then save under the original name, with the extra word 'small' so that I don't lose the original, but do have a reminder to delete the second version after I have posted to Paddleducks.

The new posting rules allow both vertical and horizontal (ie 800 x 600 and 600 x 800 are both acceptable).  For a week I had to tip vertical shots sideways to be accepted by the software.
