APAM- Gone but not forgotten!
« on: September 25, 2006, 07:36:08 PM »
Hello everyone!

I don't know if you've noted but APAM Disapeared due to an accident but that's ok because very soon APAM will be BACK! (Hopefully) With all your favourite aussie paddler articles!

Currently Roderick Smith and I are working on piecing together fragments of slavaged html files and grabbing the important articles from these so I can repost them!

You'll just have to post all your kind comments again!

So stay tuned, APAM will be back before you know it!

Sadly our ISP (host) cannot provide a backup - They can provide loads of excuses but little else!

I keep a weekly backup of the message forum, just in case the worst happens, but in this instance it would have meant any messages posted in the last 5 days would have been lost if I'd used the backup so I felt it better to see if Sean could help first....

Thankfully it seems that Sean, Roderick and Derek have almost got the main stuff together and APAM will be back soon.... Well done guys!

Not surprising Derek, Matthews is spelt with a DOUBLE "T", not one as you have...

APAM salvage
« Reply #5 on: September 26, 2006, 09:21:08 PM »
I have just condensed the salvage posts from Derek into a single document, and sent it to Sean.  He can select what to repost, and how to do it. It has been a monumental effort for many people, but one worth making.  I quote from the editor of a 52-part railway serial (Railway wonders of the world), published in the late 1930s: as he concluded the project, he referred to the 'clubbable spirit' of the contributors, and the great correspondence which he had received.  This salvage shows the clubbable spirit of Paddleducks.  I would love to meet any Australian members who make the effort to be at Echuca over Sat.7-Sun.8.10 for this year's heritage festival.  Like Sean and other contacts, I will be camouflaged in the vintage landscape in an appropriate period outfit.

Regards,
Roderick B Smith

OK, OK.... from my original transcription [when I typed it out] I was thirsty & needed a   :beer , &  had used my OZ Irish translation spelling skills to make ....  of Mat>>ews, you know the one with the invisible ink in the  :computer registration of the new address which probably equated to Matthews being spelt without the second "TEE" or "TEA"

From this mis spelling by my 1/25 scale office staff I am  :sorry  :hehe  :music & apologize - >>>>> Derek

Derek,

You should be able to send them to either eddy.matthews2@ntlworld.com or admin@apaddleducks.co.uk

Either one of those should work fine...
