Hello all, Derek I'll seek the answer for your time versus our time as a new colleague of mine hails from your island. The authorities must have had good reason to send him over here because I've been trying to convince him that going home is a really good reason just to miss our awful winter which looms ahead of us. On that point I don't rightly know where Melbourne is  :?: It could be on another continent for all I know

Cheers

Hello all, I completely forgot about the World Time Clock feature which Eddy so kindly included on the site for those spread all around the world. Melbourne is 10 hours in front of GMT. Now I do not know if there is such a thing as Daylight Saving Time as we have here with British Summer Time where the clocks are ahead of GMT by one hour . As an example I write this as of Thursday evening at 6 pm BST which in reality is 5pm GMT or 10 hours ahead in Melbourne making this  3AM Friday morning ? I think I've worked this out correctly. If anyone knows differently then please advise us.
On a similar vein we are often joined for a chat by our American PD's Bill & Travis, just after lunch for them! So in effect we could host an all day bufffet / Bar-B-Q / dinner and everyone could participate  :D

cheers

for now

Aye, well what can ye' say! Anither dram an' I'll be fair fou. Last night the typing did not degenerate to the level where it became illegible or incoherent, close but not that far. It is really a very relaxing way to spend a Thursday night where we can all put their modelling ails to right. Come on in the chat is friendly if a little boisterous with all the auld' yins.

cheers

Jim

OK all - a few points of clarification please :P  :P

thanks Jim - if I wanted to go to Melbourne to talk with our Peter W, I would simply drive to the top of the hill, turn left & drive 500 miles south  [ :oops ] thats a right hand turn, not left  :sorry .... but I would not get lost as Tony has lent me his NZ boy scouts compass - only thing is that the dial markings are printed in non English letters :?:  :?: so it's as useless a bucket .....CR...a....P  :crash

thanks Mick -  :post but that  green witch does not reside in OZ even if she is referred to that same name  :rant..... "of OZ"

So let me just ask a simple question  :ohno ...." what time in British units on Friday mornings does the chat room open for a  :gather.... :?: ".... but mind you, I may have to get my 7year old grandson to teach me how to log onto the bl.........dy thingie chat room

Oh.....from memory, Sandy & the crew @ ACS are just finishing their morning cup of tea + vegimite sandwiches about 9.45 am, so maybe we could invite him too, thats only if he's not too busy waving @ the people on Waverly or been pickling or PICKLED himself :hehe  :music  :hehe - Derek

Hello all, as described eariler a colleague is a native of an island which proclaims to be the font of all good looking blokes! Well in this instance Mark most certainly is not  :)  however his redeeming feature is that he did know the time difference for Melbourne from our British Summer Time. Answer + 9 hours ahead, so if we work it out that at 9.00 p.m. BST on a Thursday evening this will make it  6.00 a.m. Friday in Melbourne. Then after confirming this for me he added -- wait for it -- "Ah but, then there is the equivalent Daylight Saving Time which is about to come in as a factor !   " Then he further added " and then you've got the various states who adopt DST  and those who do not, plus the time difference across the continent of - 1 hour to + 2 hour from Melbourne" Now I am totally confused   :?  If anyone and I really do mean anyone who can come up with a chart we can all follow then I'd be eternally grateful

cheers

Jim - you would confuse the leg of a chair :rant so lets go back ten paces......  :hehe and start again

1) what time in British units does the chat room open on Friday mornings :?:

2)  :ohno your colleague from our Olde Melbourne town has clearly been part taking in too much :beer --- from what he has been telling you I don't think he knows what day of the week it is  :music

3) thanks for the tutorial ......I managed to log on to the chat room this morning :computer & the lower section of the screen looked totally :crash  different to yesterday  :oops - I cannot quite explain this, but probably due to low voltage I think  :shoot

4) Peter W [from our Olde Melbourne town] was also logged on but he may have been suffering from the low volts also as he didn't type a word.... Derek :D

I've had no trouble with the chat room software at any stage...then again as the youngest of the crew I'm sure that could be why!

Reminds me of when I was filling out my log book with details of the Pev and A.A, it wanted to know the model of the auto pilot....hmmmm

The only trouble I have is that Friday morning...well you guessed it, it's a school day!

So what have we established in Sean's post:
1. Sean can operate the software easy as pie!
2. Sean doesn't get to use the software because he has to go to school

3. Sometimes it pays to be young and a techno whiz, other times it doesn't!

....hmmmm I wonder if I should add auto pilot to my paddler! lol

Hello all, in order to verify what time it'll be in Melbourne on a Friday morning, I can now for definite show the difference coutrtesy of Eddy's World Time Clock link! I've attached a screen shot from a few minutes ago showing 9PM in UK on BST with 6AM Monday in Melbourne. Now Derek can you advise us if you are on standard Australian time or anything else? Looking forward to some of you guys getting up thsi coming Friday morning just to chat with us LOL

cheers

OK -  :trophy - well done PD's...it has only taken us 5 days to plan & syncronize our watches  :nose  :bravo , however four questions remain unanswered

1) current variances to AEST [Australian Eastern Standard Time] - I am pleased to report... :thinking ... none this week that I am aware of [but I do have it on good report that cows do not like daylight saving ..... alters milk throughput....  :sorry .... should have been referred to as output

2) what actual time [in British units] ie., what bloo......y time on Friday morning does the chat room open :?:  :?:  :?: - like how difficult is it to answer this question :?:

3) are you finished your morning tea Sandy @ 9.45 AM :?:

4) with UK being like a very little BLOB in size :nah compared to our OZ that is ......I don't suppose any daylight saving time would apply :?: or is it that there is no daylight to consider  :hehe  :hehe

So if someone can come back Question 2) I will get my scientific calculator out & try a back calculation in time......... I know I had the calculator out a few moments trying to ..........better understand stand the relationship  :ohno   :shoot  between V1.... and V2?....

Now weren't V2's those  :boom  :boom that that other person from Barvaria aimed?..... Derek
