dummy engine?

Does anyone know if there is a plastic kit or card model of a twin or triple cylinder paddler engine?

I'd like to use a "dummy" engine in one of my models, but don't have the space or displacement needed for a full working steamplant... Can anyone help?

Hi Eddy,
  I have never seen a plastic or card model of a steam marine engine. That's not to say that one never existed. If there ever was one it probably wouldn't have been in the scale that you needed. If you could send me a picture of what you had in mind I could work something out with you on building what you need.

Hi George,

Nice to hear from you again... What I'm after is something along the lines of the Edgary Westbury engine that you can find details of here: http://www.paddleducks.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=321

I need a model about two thirds of the size shown in the drawings above, and some way of getting it to move using an electric motor, so that it looks the part when the model is operating....

I know it's a LOT to ask for, but you never know unless you ask do you? :-)

Eddy,
I can see from your progress on the Suter that you have a great deal of talent. The Westbury engine is fairly simple in design and could be built from styrene plastic and probably a few pieces of metal here and there. We have plastic stock available here in the States branded by Plastruct and Evergreen. It comes in almost every configuration needed for scratch building. To get back to my first sentence, I would think that you could fabricate and build this without much trouble. If you would like me to have a go at it I will discuss it off line with you.

Hi Eddy,
This is a really old topic and no doubt you have moved on from this dilemma but yes, AIRFIX made two  plastic models, a beam engine, and  a side lever? I think , and the card model of Great Eastern by Schreiber has a card model of the engine. When I get a minute I'll see if I can find the kits which are packed away somewhere and provide the kit numbers. They are long out of print but the after market and ebay are possibilities. Scale I don't recall.

The Billings "African Queen" model has a dummy engine, I have seen some on eBay, but don't see any right now. What scale are you looking for?
