OOPS!!
« on: July 27, 2005, 02:08:34 AM »
I'm afraid I made a bit of a cockup of the forum database, so I've had to re-install an older one - This means that some of the newer messages and some user accounts that were created in the last week have been lost.

If you registered recently and find your account no longer exists, please re-register.

My sincere apologies for the hassle caused....

It certainly is, especially when I ended up spending more than four hours putting everything right after my two second bit of brain fade caused the problem in the first place! At least it will teach me to make a backup of the database before I play around with it next time!

I think Paul had the right idea Sean - But maybe you missed his post because of my clumsiness? Forget about seperate usergroups or locked message areas on the forum, and create some extra areas on the main website such as "Construction Articles", "Modeller of the Month", "Paddler Books Database", the possibilities are endless!

Having locked areas or seperate usergroups will only result in a very untidy forum in my opinion. The point of a forum is to allow communication, and this would prevent that free exchange of ideas and comments.

As usual, please don't take my comments to heart, they are meant to be constructive, and NOT to stop your flow of ideas - We need to think carefully about any changes so they are easy to use and easy to maintain.

Ah I'm so (sarcastically) offended by your harsh comments. lol

Yeh I got PJ's post, and I got his pm twice now hehehehehe

Could you have a section on the website like with the yahoo stuff that could contain articles to browse?
It could work as some kind of library, like the Yahoo posts as that is all they really are now
