Paddle wheels and steam plants

Greetings,

1) Apart from the Graupner and Waverley Models kits, are there any
paddle wheel kits?

2) Apart from the Cheddar Plover and Puffin Paddle plants and those
sold by Tony Green Steam Models, what steam engines are suitable for
paddle steamers (LWL no more than 1.2m)?

3) What's a suitable gearing for the Cheddar Paddle Plant and Waverley
Models (or any other similarly sized) paddle wheels (assuming about
150 rpm)?

Wilesco makes a twin cylinder engine and boiler set called the D48 which is i beleive the same one Graupner sells.

Hi, I would suggest a reduction of 25:1 as the Waverley paddle wheels like
to run at about 60 - 80 rpm max I use 5mm pitch toothed belts as they are
quiet and strong.

Hi Mike....

Great to hear from you again...we missed you. Please give us an
update on Waverley models and what you've been building!

I expect you heard the sad news about the Ramsgate Library burning to
the ground last August. It really was a tragedy as they had loads of
maritime archival material to do with the Harbour AND a magnificent
model of PT "Aid" which was destroyed.

Have you gone any further with the "Aid" project ? Clive (Lawford)
of Ramsgate recently emailed me to ask if there has been any progress.
He sent me a couple of nice photos of the "Aid" model taken before
the fire.

Again...really pleased to see your post and look forward to hearing
your latest news.
