I googled the Sultana (fire+sultana+steamer) and had around 485 hits. The very first was a Sultana webring address - http://www.rootsweb.com/~genepool/sultana.htm - with plenty of links. This might give 'wideglide98' some leads on publications, images, etc. that might be of background interest or for further research.

Just love those Taubman plans - purchased the USS Monitor plans a year or more ago and received a massive bundle of paper with detail to die for. Wisht he'd heard of my Britannia! :-)

I have an article about the Sultana disaster with the only existing
photo of her loaded down with the ex-prisoners of war. Man, they were
hanging off everywhere a person could manage to hang on.
