Hello Dave,

Thanks for the nice words. The GE is actually my first attempt at a scratch
built model. 1/350 is a nice scale for static ocean liners. I have chosen
this scale because I am planning on scratch building more ships to this
scale and even though this represents quite a challenge, one can include
lots of detail even though with some slight scale compromises.

I would love to see someone someday making a large scale (say 1/96th) R/C
model of the GE, hopefully "as built" when she was new and shiny with an
uncluttered teak wood deck. Hopefully our web site soon will contain enough
information for the modeler to get started.

Scott and I are very close to having a fairly complete picture of how the GE
looked during her various stages. The only problem is that many photos don't
have a date. For example we have photographic evidence that the wheelhouse
(aft) actually existed, but we don't know if the photo dates from before or
after the 1860 period, where the GE had exposed wheels.

So, many of the remaining questions now start with "when" as opposed to
"what" and "where". :-)

BTW: we will add more rare photos of the real GE showing deck detail soon.

Thanks again to the members of the Paddleducks-group. We wouldn't have been
able to gather all this information without you.
