Doors and windows

Hi to all PD's
Regards to Bob's request about windows and doors. I will try to explain the
way I have done them. I'm always looking for the simplest way to achieve a
detailed look and this is one way I found. They are carved into the cabin
sides with the desired door paneling and windows also carved with the widow
pains cut out to leave a sash and then add the necessary bars in the windows
quite tedious. I usually paint these and then glue thin plastic on the back
for the glass, I use the clear plastic material which comes on many packaged
items today. Some doors are made to open and some windows are made to slide.
The doors are cut out after being carved with a very sharp exacto knife and
wire hinges put on, more delicate work. The cabin sides are made from about
3/32" material. This is harder to explain than do. Hope this gives those
interested some ideas.
The project I've been working on this last winter is a steam tug, the S.S.
GRANTHALL, the last CPR boat on Kootenay Lake. This time the boat is made of
metal, ( galvanized roof flashing), with boiler and steam engine. Just about
ready for some serious testing. Some pictures will be forthcoming, as usual
have to finish the film.
